Getting Back to Me (& a ghost story!)

Hello, pretty people & happy Wednesday!! Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous! 70s in March? YES! I'll take it. Now we're back to normal. boo! But that is okay, because yesterday I took the opportunity to go out and do something I haven't done in a very long time. Landscape photography. I had a request from a friend for an image of a barn for her to frame. The one above ^^ is the one she ended up choosing.

I hadn't gone out to photograph just for me & for fun since I left grad school. My heart was never in it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my job & I always have fun with my clients. But I'm talking my heart wasn't in going out just me & the Nikon & shooting. It was yesterday. It was awesome too. I had a great time just cruising around & stopping whenever I felt like. I found some cool new locations for my sessions too.

It's rare that I get shots I like & am willing to share with anyone. But I got some. Here are two that I like.

Ready for a funny story? I'm just going to try to pass it off as funny & not scary as shit.

While at this location I was crawling around - laying on my tummy, squatting, all those crazy positions you always see us photographers doing. While I was sitting, but leaning back and tilting a little I heard gunshots, like 3-4, I lost count in my desperate attempt to jump up and run to my car as fast as I could. I jumped in my car & sat on my sunglasses, broke them and peeled outa the little farm road I was parked on so fast. I can only imagine if someone was around and could see me. It had to have been a show. (that's the funny part)

I'm hoping to GOD it was a car backfiring, but there were no cars around. I was out in the middle of BFE.

These shots weren't faint, in the distance either. THEY WERE RIGHT THERE.  scary as freaking shit.

In addition to there being no cars, there were no people to be seen either. So, I was the only person around a creepy old property with a house that had once been there with only the steps left. AND I 100% believe in ghosts.  There was a no trespassing sign on the tree but that didn't stop me. I pissed a ghost off & made it even more mad that I hung around for a bit. Needless to say, I will not be going back to THIS particular location.

I have no explanation for what happened, but I'm just gonna brush it off as someone was around that I didn't see, it must have been a car backfiring. Right?

I didn't actively feel uneasy while I was there, but I was really focused on getting great composition & framing, it never crossed my mind to take in my surroundings further.

I hope you're having a great week so far. Have a great rest of the week.

Do you believe in ghosts? Have any stories for me? Possibly an explanation? ;)
