Not so InstaLately

Well, I was going to Instalately today but turns out I haven't insta-ed much lately. Mostly just work images, which is cool & all but I didn't have anything super fun to post so I'm gonna confess today.

I haven't been commenting on the blogs I read like I should. So if I used to comment on your posts all of the times & you notice I suddenly stopped, I'm still reading. Most of the time. I'll try to be better. :)

I've drank entirely too many margaritas in the last 10 days. Not that this is a bad thing. The first (shared) pitcher lead me to do something that's NOT ME AT ALL. But I was in a little rut of boredom & wanted out. So after retrieving my phone back from Cap'n I texted someone she had been texting, we'll call that person DR, and said "I'm coming over" & I did then stayed until like 3 am. }insert that emoji with that hands on its face here{ The second & third (shared) pitchers ended in God knows how many beers, being front row at a concert & not leaving the bar until closing. I also had a vague flashback of belting out Family Tradition. Yeah, that song by Hank Williams Jr. It was confirmed by DR that did happen. awesome.

When boxed wine is consumed you might end up sleeping somewhere that isn't your bed.

I have slept until 9 both Monday & Tuesday this week (in my bed). Whoops

I cheat when I count my calories, I don't count chips. Ever

I get a thrill out of texting/hanging out with DR. And I think it's because I know I probs shouldn't do either of those things. Don't care. Not sorry.

I haven't posted my Friday post in like 2 weeks - mostly because my life has pretty boring lately. Hoping this changes real soon. I like having interesting stories & things to tell you about!

Granted, some interesting things have happened lately - just not really things I want to spread all over the interwebs.

Happy Hump Day, y'all! What are your confessions? I'm slightly terrified to post this bc I'm not 100% sure who the hell reads this. Oh well. Here goes nothin

April 28, 2014

Y'all are the bestest!

Hey there, Tuesday people! How are ya?

This past week I was nominated for the Liebster award not once, not twice, but THREE times. In the last week. In the last week. So this marks 5 times I've been nominated by you lovely people. I'm not going to bother posting the rules, because I'm not following them, I'm rebellious - hahaha

Here is what I am going to do:
Links to
Round One - this was like a year ago
 - This one is… interesting. to say the least. Def hadn't found my voice yet. But nonetheless here it is.
Round Dos - literally named round dos
 - This one is better!

Now, I'm going to answer the questions from the other awesome ladies in the order in which they sent me to nominations.

First up we have Alyssa from alyssagoesbang - go check this girl out. She's so awesome & writes some really amazing stuff! I'm so happy to have her as a friend!

Here are her questions for me

1. What's the best/most interesting that's happened in your life due to blogging?
I would have to say meeting so many cool people who are like me! The interweb is a weird place & it's pretty cool that you can meet & become friends with people from so far away!

2. Where do ideas for your post topics come from?
Most of them come from the depths of my little mind. But like any great artist I sometimes steal ideas from others - and then give them credit, because I'm not a complete bitch.

3. Who would play you in the movie about your life?
Emma Stone - I like to think she is my spirit animal

4. What is one thing you wish you could tell yourself 10 years ago?
Don't cry because people call you fat. You're not. Plus those people who call you that don't end up being near as cool as you do.

5. Tell us one quirk that you feel is uniquely "you."
Oh gosh, there are so many. I'm a weirdo haha.

6. What song will always make you sing at the top of your lungs?
I can't choose just one. I really can't so check this link out!

7. What movie will always make you cry?
An Affair to Remember - and it's an ugly cry too

8. What are you allergic to?

9. What do you think is your best character or personality trait?
I think that this is my strongest as well as my weakest - I'm really strong-willed. I stand firm by my beliefs. And yes, I know it's awesome. But sometimes my opinions and strength get's me in trouble.

10. What one event has had the most significant lasting event on your life?
Failing out of grad school. I don't know that I have ever put that in print or even said it aloud before. Granted, I had already made the choice to leave & move back toward home. I didn't intentionally fail for that reason either. And I guess I didn't actually fail, I was given a "you pass for now, but you had better do what we want next time or you're outa here." And the shitty thing is, I did good work, it just wasn't what they wanted me to do, so they didn't like it. And here enters my strong will. I wouldn't do what they wanted me to do. I refused to make work for other people. Because making art to please someone else is the polar opposite of the definition of art.

But anyways, what I learned from this was that once you start living your life to please someone else you are no longer living your life & there is no point in it. I lost my self last year. It's been a great journey back to who I am. I recognize the girl looking back at me in the mirror again.

And there is a really awesome series of quotes from One Tree Hill that I'm going to share:

LUCAS: And Hansel said to Gretel: "Let us drop these breadcrumbs so that together we find our way home." Because losing our way would be the most cruel of things. This year, I lost my way.

NATHAN: And losing your way on a journey is unfortunate. But losing your reason for the journey is a fate more cruel.

PEYTON: The journey lasted eight months. Sometimes I travelled alone, sometimes, there were others who took the wheel, and took my heart. But when the destination was reached, it wasn’t me who arrived. It wasn’t me at all.

BROOKE: And once you lose yourself, you have two choices: find the person you used to be, or lose that person completely.

MOUTH: Because sometimes, you have to step outside of the person you’ve been and remember the person you were meant to be. The person you wanted to be. The person you are.

I've found the girl I always wanted to be.  That was a long winded answer but I think the question was asking for that! I know a girl that would call that an Alyssa length answer!

On to the next one!
Ashley from A Faithful Passion nominated me as well! Go check out this sweetheart. She reached out to me a week or so ago to swap buttons & I can tell we're going to be great friends.

Here we go!

1. What is one regret that you have in life?
I'm not one of those people who would get to ragrets ;) tattooed on my body, but honestly I can't think of anything I regret. My life is the way it is because of the choices I have made. Now, I make some pretty awful life choices sometime, but I wouldn't be me if I did things any differently.

2. If you could live anywhere in the world where would you choose?
Oh gosh, I would love to be a gypsy. Traveling from place to place living out of a suitcase.

3. What made you start your blog?
I kinda felt like it one day. I read a lot of beauty blogs and wanted to start one of my own. So I did.

4. If you could wake up everyday and always have one person in your life who would it be? Why?
I can't choose just one person, so I'm choosing group of people. My framily. they know exactly who they are & why I want them there. They lift me up & they're the people that I could spend every day with & not kill them.

5. Would you rather marry at the courthouse or have an actual wedding? Why?
I've always dreamed of getting married in the church I grew up at. But I mean circumstances are everything.

6. If you could change two things about the world what would it be?
I would make certain there were less stupid people {read NO stupid people} & more dancing.

7. What does love mean to you?
1st Corinthians 13

And then there is this:

We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours we join up with then and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love. – Dr. Seuss

8. What is your favorite blog post, that you wrote, to date?
Sacrifice - some real talk

9. Would you ever consider adoption?
Yes, every child needs a loving momma & daddy

10. What is your favorite song? Why?
You just read about those if you clicked the link in #6 of Alyssa's questions. If you didn't click the link, do it now

Last but certainly not least, Leelee from Paper Bag Styling contacted me through email & nominated me! She's a new bloggy buddy & I don't know her as well but so far I'm loving her posts & can't wait to get to know her better!

1. Why did you start blogging?
Because I wanted to!

2. What is a secret talent you have?
I can tie a cherry stem in a knot with my tongue

3. What do you do when you have free time?
What is free time?

4. What is your favorite color?
Purple & glitter!

5. What is your favorite T.V. Show?
Gilmore Girls

6. What is one thing that makes you actually LOL-laugh out loud?
Almost anything on the Buzz

7. What time of day do you blog/network/social media?
Whenever I get a minute, mostly at night when I'm watching TV

8. What is your favorite accessory?
Any of my pandora or my cross tag necklace my Momma & Daddy got me for HS graduation

9. What is the most recent book you've read.....or magazine? LOL
Witches of East End

10. If you were an "-aholic" what would that be? (mine is skittles-aholic,thrifting-aholic,magazine-aholic)
Well I talked about how I have an addictive personality in this here post - so I try really hard to stay away from addictive things.

11. When you were a child, what did you dream of being? Did you do it? (thanks Janice!)
I have everything I ever dreamed of. I own my own business, I do what I love, I laugh every day, I have a great framily that supports me even more than I ever dreamed.

If you made it this far:

Thanks for hanging out with me for this long winded post. And seriously if you made it past the deep question in the first round I'm proud of you. Come by & get a cookie!

Shit I really suck at

Oh Wednesday. Hump Day.

I've been waiting for my studio to open for damn near a year now. It's finally getting close but still, it's been FOREVER! I've always known I'm not exactly a patient person but this has pretty well confirmed that I am the most impatient person on the face of the planet.

This confirmation kinda struck an idea to write about really simple things that I majorly suck at.

- Being patient
See opening paragraph

- Sugar coating things
I'm so blunt. I try my hardest not to be. It's just so hard because seriously sugar coated shit still taste like shit. Might as well throw it out there how it is. Like ripping a band-aid off, it stings like a biotch right then - but it's way better than trying to drag out the news.

- Being quite
I'm loud & obnoxious 95% of the time. I laugh at inappropriate times. I really don't have an inside voice.

- Sitting still
This is probably due largely in part to my caffeine intake & my sheer lack of patience

- Masking disgust
If you do something stupid around me you'll be able to tell I think it's dumb because of the look on my face. I usually can pull it together pretty quickly, but initially you're gonna get the wtf face. And I might actually say "What the f*ck"

- Sleeping
I just usually can't. It's not because I don't want to.

- Texting
So I texted you right back? You're lucky! I eventually text everyone back {most of the time} But sometimes I read it & mentally respond and then never actually respond whoops.

- Facebook Birthdays
So bad at writing on people's walls for their birthday, but dammit I expect you to write on mine for my birthday!!!!

- Dieting
I like tacos & alcohol see this post

So now that I've confessed all of these things I suck at I'm going to link up with Kathy over at Vodka & Soda.

What are your confessions? Are you bad at any of these things too?

Have a great rest of the week y'all!

My favorite movies in all of everdom

Hey guys, I hope you had a great Monday & a happy Easter!

Today I want to share with y'all some of my favorite movies!

My favoritest movie of all time is Top Gun - I LOVE it. When it's on tv I will drop everything to watch it. EVERYTHING. And in case you were wondering, DVDs can in fact be worn out. I had to buy a new copy of Top Gun bc I watched my initial copy so much I literally killed it. Plus - Tom Cruise, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer, & Hollywood {because his real name is Whip & that's weird}

Sweet Home Alabama - I could watch this movie erry day - it's so amazing. Sometimes what you're looking for is right where you left it. UGH YES!

An Affair to Remember. Judge me for loving one of the saddest, most unfortunate movies of all time. Don't care. I have a special connection with this movie. I really only watch it when I've had a really hard day or when I have just ended a relationship. And it is typically best to stay far far away from me during & after I watch it. It's an ugly cry movie. Plus, in my humble opinion, Cary Grant is what all men should aspire to be.

I'm not all sappy

Mean Girls - LOVE THIS MOVIE I would be a shitty girl if I didn't.
sidebar - as discussed this weekend I am a shitty girl, but that's a whole other post.

Bridesmaids - Seriously one of the funniest movies EVER.

Easy A - I LOVE Emma Stone, she really rocks this movie. I notice something new every time. It's fantastic.

What are some of your favorites? Do we share any? I hope you all have a great week!

I have an addictive personality - now you know

Happy Friday Eve pretty people! Tonight is BUNCO night! I have been waiting for this since last month's evening ended! It was so much fun, y'all. I got to know some friends better & I made some new friends!

It has been brought to my attention - by myself - that I have an addictive personality. God forbid I ever get my hands on something TRULY addictive.

I have kind of known this for a while. I get on something & I just can't stop. Like BBQ chips, don't even give me a full sized bag, I'll finish it in one sitting. Okay, so this might be more along the lines of I have absolutely ZERO self-control. But really, it's the same thing, is it not?

You might remember way back when in January - on second thought, maybe February - questionable.  I talked about watching 2.5 seasons of Once Upon a Time in 2 weeks. Yeah, that was a little extreme even for the likes of me. I'm still obsessed, btw. Sundays take so long to come back around!

Grey's, I binge watch the shit outa that show too. And One Tree Hill. And Gilmore Girls. And Bridesmaids. And Top Gun & The Guardian (same movie, btw) Top Gun is better. Seriously when I see that one of those is on TV I will drop my entire life & watch that. Even though I own all of those things.

So when my mom & I found this new thrilling show; CRISIS, I knew it would be bad news. We were introduced by a good friend. There were 5 episodes on demand and the first night we stayed up until 12:30 when we both had work the next day watching. And ever since we cannot get enough. She's not as bad as me. It's not as time consuming for her because she doesn't feel the need to watch everything twice. Yeah, I know. It's ridiculous. But I want to make sure I'm well versed in all the quotes & what's happening!! And it's also because when I like something, I want more of it. Because more is better than less.

Anyways, Crisis. It's based in DC. All of these really important diplomats kid's are on a bus to a field trip & the bus is hijacked {not the right word, don't care} The kids are taken & the captors make their parents do all of these crazy things to get their kids back! IT IS SO GOOD!!!!! Go start watching it now & either love me or hate me because you too will be addicted.

If you already watch it, thoughts??

Until tomorrow, friends. hugs & cookies.

My favorite iPhone-ography apps!

Hi Friends! Let's talk about iPhone-ography today!

Making images with the trusty ol' iPhone has been growing in popularity since… well, since the iPhone came into existence. And now, it is easier than ever to get some really great quality photos using just your phone. Today, I am dedicating this post to a few of my favorite iPhone photography apps!

1. Instagram, obviously! This is my social media of choice. I prefer it to Facebook, yet I do post most of my images to fb from Insta. It's so much fun to see what everyone is up to based off of the images they share! And it's free, duh!

Here is what my photography group looks like on my phone, Instgram isn't in there because I use it multiple times during the day, so I just have that icon out on it's own!

2. InstaSize is my newest favorite! What I started out using this app for is I wanted to share the images of my sessions that I had fully edited but I didn't want to make square format hence comes in Instasize. It shrinks your regular sized images to fit into squares with boarders to share on Instagram. BUT in the past couple days I discovered you can add fun, glittery borders, really freaking awesome filters & edgy overlays, awesome stickers, and text. You can also collage with it! It's a free app that you can purchase upgrades for. I haven't purchased any upgrades, the ads don't bother me. And most of the overlays & borders are free!

I was definitely not using this app to it's full potential, but I certainly will be now!!

3. PicFrame - this is my favorite app for making collages. They can be square format or you can make them rectangular. It's a pretty cool one. I think this one was a paid app.

4. Studio Design - I use this for making word art on the go. It has some really cool graphics & overlays. And not to mention so really great fonts! But you can also add photos to it and make memes or things like that. It's free and a really cool one!

5. Last & most definitely not least is Flipagram. This one is free too & you can add your pictures to make a quick little instavideo using your own music from your phone or some provided tunes. I use this to make my end of the year videos & you know when you get over excited and take a shit-ton of pictures and don't want to post them all separately use this! And put it to music the best part!
I hope you learned something new about some apps you didn't know existed! Do you use any of these am I missing out on some cool features? Tell my your favorites, especially if there is one I didn't mention! I'd love to hear all about it!

Carlos - the cat with thumbs & a PSA

Carlos - the cat with thumbs: This cat is so cool, and I hate cats - but I love Carlos. Carlos adopted my friend's family several years ago & he has thumbs. How awesome is that?! I snap chat his thumbs every time I go over there. In addition to having thumbs, Carlos probably weighs like 15 pounds. He's HUGE!

Public Service Announcement: There is a soda it's called Ski. It's orgasmic. And full of caffeine & it is my godsend. It's made in a small town in Southern Illinois. And you NEED to try it. Go HERE & see if you can get it somewhere near you. Like seriously, it's the closest I have ever felt to heaven.  The Kentucky Headhunters even put it in a song.

If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen this image. Our tiny little school celebrated 100 years in 1997, clearly you can see that hahah. But I was at the school/church last night for a youth group Lambert's style dinner. That was a great time! Except I felt really really old because I had to pull one of the few girls working I did know over & ask who the heck everyone was! Some of those kids in the group were 10 years younger than me! I remember always having a great time working that dinner. Anywho, I digress. I saw this picture and did a little joy-dance. We were in kindergarten & we were so darn cute!! So there is Kindergarten Em - the one with clenched folded hands, dressed in all purple, a typical outfit I am told. The girl next to me is still my BFF to this day. And that boy in the blue 100 shirt  - we're still extremely close as well! I clearly suck at iPhone-ography because I can't center things.
But seriously how cute are we all in our little socks & tennis shoes?!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Have you ever seen a cat with thumbs or had a ski? Have a great week my loves!
